Hello there Blog-land people!

Thursday was supposed to be another swim day.... but they ended up getting rained out. So after the storm cleared, they headed to the park to play. Afterwards, they got snocones!! Gavin got blue coconut...can you tell???

Wednesday was Bowling Day. Denise said he had a BLAST! Apparently, it wore him out :)

They also went to the movies that night. They saw "Dispicable Me". And you will have to ask Denise the funniest story ever.... Gavin got stuck in the seat :)

Tuesday was Gavin's 4th Birthday!

(We didnt get to see him in person but we did Skype with him so that was pretty stinking cool!!)

For his birthday they went swimming during the day and to Gattiland for supper. Of course, he wanted to play all the games!

Garrett 3 months

On Monday, Garrett turned 3 months old. So hard to believe! We have truly enjoyed the complete chaos that he has brought into our lives... hes just so stinking cute :) He is starting to smile super big and LOVES looking at his family. He just stares in wonderment at Gavin - probably wondering what is up with that kiddo! His eyes are dark blue unlike his brother's. I tell people we have both worlds - sky blue (Gavin) and ocean blue (Garrett). He is a little less relaxed than Gavin was as an infant - but he is still a good baby. He can go from super smiley to super grumpy is less than a minute....for no reason! Its hilarious to watch that big o smile turn upside down into the poutyest little frown. I just wanna kiss him :)
At his 2 month dr appt - he weighed 12 lbs 12 oz and was 23 inches long. That makes him 12 oz heavier and 1 inch longer than Gavin was at the same age.
He is starting to eat 4-6 oz every 2-4 hours so the doctor is already having us feed him rice cereal! We didnt start cereal with Gavin until he was almost 5 months! But once he has the rice cereal/formula bottle at night - we can usually get about 5-6 hours of sleep out of him... thank goodness!!!
I cant wait for his personality to develop a little more.... and I'll be sure and keep yall posted!

Gavin asked me the other night where babies come from. *head slap*. We have talked a lot about babies since he knew I had a baby growing in my tummy. And thank goodness I had my c-section scar from his birth, I just told him thats where the baby would come out. He loved that he could see that. Thats where he came from, thats where Baby Garrett would come from. After I got home from the hospital he was already checking on my "owie" that Baby Garrett came out of. Then the other night he asked "Momma, where do babies come from?" So of course I told him "Bellies". He said "DUH! I knew that! How does the baby get IN your belly?" I knew this was coming.... someday. Never this soon. But thankfully I have friends with older kids who have been through this, so I told him "When a Mommy and Daddy love each other very much and want to have a baby, God puts the baby in there. Then Mommy grows the baby in her tummy until the baby is big enough to come out." This satisfied him totally :) Thank God!!!

My BESTEST FRIEND in the whole wide world now has her own blog!! Denise has been taking pictures of me and my family for a while now. She has really gotten into the whole photography thing and is taking classes and trying to start her own little business. I am SOOOOOOOOOO proud of her and all her accomplishments. She is one of the those people who can build anything out of wood (with power tools), come up with the cutest crafts, can decorate any room worthy of any famous designer and can now take beautiful pictures too. Gosh.... I hate those kind of people (really....Im just jealous!) :)

32 weeks

I had my 32 week appt today. We listened to the heartbeat (which I seriously could do every day!) and just chatted with the Doctor for a little while. He is such a nice guy! We are still due April 26 so if everything goes as planned, we will be doing my cesarean on April 20!!!
Anyway, here is a little belly shot of me at work this week :)

I was looking at my friend's (The Lockers) blog and she has this neat-o linky for a Recipe Swap. So I decided to get out the recipe we use weekly at my house and it happens to be a favorite recipe from when I was a kid.

Simply Modern Mom is trying to come up with 365 over-used recipes in a WEEK! So I thought I would post Granny Pat's *Salmon Patties* :)

We eat these things on a pretty darn regular basis...my comfort foods. And it seems Danny always knows when to make them. We either eat them with mac-n-cheese or mashed taters (sometimes both)!

Granny Pat's Salmon Patties
1/2 c corn meal
1/2 c flour
1 egg
1 can of salmon
(We de-bone ours but its really okay to leave them in there!)
A little milk

1. Mix all ingredients together. If the batter is super dry, add a little milk.
You don't want it soupy at all.
2. Make into patties. (Granny Pat always made little ones about a Tablespoon big -- Danny makes about 4 big ones )
3. Fry in hot oil until they are nice and golden all over.

We LOVE ketchup on ours :)

30 weeks

Wow.....I can't believe we are already 30 weeks into this pregnancy! Time has been flying by!
In 2 short little months, we will get to meet our little babe. The one that is in constant movement inside my tummy. The one that has the hiccups at least 3 times a day - sometimes 4. The one that Gavin is already totally in love with and can't wait to meet. The one that Danny & I are already totally in love with and can't wait to meet! 10 more weeks...wow!

Friday, I had my 30 week checkup. I got the results from my sugar tests (which all turned out good), and we got to see the baby on the sonogram. My mom, Danny, Gavin and me were all there and could hardly contain our excitement. Gavin LOVES hearing his little heartbeat... he must've asked the Dr at least 5 times to hear it. The rest of us are just nothing short of amazed to see him move and kick and just be Garrett. The Dr checked all his little organs and limbs and said everything looked great. He was not participating in the sonogram however and mostly slept. He is still all folded up in there with his knees and feet right in his face. We did the 3D sonogram but only got a few good pictures because of his position. It really just hurts my feelings that he is so cramped up in there - I feel so bad. He cannot be comfortable!!!

Nursery

I know its been AWHILE since I've posted, but its been SUPER busy around here. Of course, we are always chasing around our 3.5 year old but we've also been working on the house getting ready for the baby. We are putting the nursery in the guest bedroom so had to move our guest bedroom to our green room. That took some time just getting to where we could walk into the green room, much less putting a bed in there! So we've been working a little at a time... moving things around, getting Gavin's old things out of storage for Garrett, painting, putting the crib together, etc.

This weekend, Denise and my mom came into town and we hit the nursery hard. I really wanted to get the majority of it finished. AND WE DID!!! We still have to put up the border around the ceiling and move the changing table in - and I might do another little mural above the changing table - but other than that, the main mural is done! And its GORGEOUS! I cannot imagine it turning out any better.

Its a BOY!!! We are very excited that Gavin will have a little brother to grow up with! (I'm just excited he's going to have siblings at all :)
Everything looked GREAT.... he is healthy and had all his little organs and his heart was beating wonderfully! We are still expected to meet him sometime in April.

I'm sooooooooooooo stinkin' excited!!

~As for how we are doing - we are progressing nicely. Largely. My stomach is getting huger! And the baby is moving A LOT already. Especially when I eat or drink, the little booger just starts kicking and doing flip flops. Then some times at night when Im squishing him/her, he/she kicks just to let me know. It's such an awesome feeling! Even if I'm in a really bad mood or getting stressed out, I can feel him/her move and it just makes me smile. *I remember Gavin didn't ever stop moving. From the time I could feel him at about 4.5 months - he literally didnt stop until I gave birth. Such a wiggle worm that kid was. (I guess that could explain his never-slow-downness that he has now too :) We are so lucky that God gave us the opportunity to have children and to be pregnant. It truly is a miracle!

16 Weeks

Today was my 16-week doctor appt. It was a very basic appt. I did get to hear the heartbeat again (which was AWESOME) but other than that: I have gained another 3 pounds (GEESH), had my blood drawn for the chromosomal testing, and scheduled my next appt for the sonogram. I won't know my results for the testing for about a week but as soon as I do, I will let yall know. Please keep your fingers crossed and prayers headed this way that the baby is healthy. Then the next appt is Dec 10 - we will check the bones and spine and heart and see if it's a he or a she :)
*I recorded the heartbeat on my phone and I've tried to post it on here but I just have NO IDEA how to do that. So if you want to hear it, just let me know and I can either text it or email it to you. It's very fast and loud... my BFF asked if I was pregnant with Clydesdale horses ;)

Last Sunday we took Edward back to DFW and we stopped for a potty break right outside Weatherford at a Roadside Park. While Daddy went potty, Gavin & I jumped out of the truck and took some pictures (with my phone - so they arent the best). The background was just so perfect for pictures... the trees, the leaves, the country. I wish I had more time and a big fancy camera for moments like this. (Mainly when Gavin will actually *let* me take his pictures!)

Michael Jackson - This Is It

This past Saturday, my Momma and I went to see the Michael Jackson movie "This Is It". It was basically a bunch of his rehearsals and practices getting ready for the upcoming concert series. IT. WAS. AWESOME. Every one of our favorite songs... getting to see them performed on stage. It made me SOOOOO sad that I will never get the chance to see him in concert now. At least before he died, there was that little bit of hope. I can only imagine what the real concert would've looked like because the freakin rehearsals were AWESOME! He is such an amazing performer and dancer and all those people that dance and sing with him are too.... geesh. Im just still so sad that he's gone. Anyway - I took pictures during the movie :) Even videotaped "Thriller". OMG - it rocked!

13 weeks

Huge. That's about all I can say about my not-even-done-with-my-first-trimester belly! I didn't even *think* about getting this big with Gavin till about 5 months. (But they do say that you tend to bump out a little faster with the 2nd one). So I will quit stressing about it. But Seriously. Huge.

12 Weeks

We had our 12 week check-up appt on Friday. First they weighed me (Holy cow... I gained 5 pounds!!! In ONE month!) then sent me to my little room. The doctor came in and put the squishy cold stuff on my belly to look around for the heartbeat. After a few seconds (felt like HOURS) of searching... he found it :) Gosh, it was pumping so fast! He said everything sounded great! And not to worry about my weight gain. I am a little older than I was with Gavin and my metabolism has slowed a little, plus my body is in "weight gain mode" right now. So I was okay with it. He did say that they took a look at my blood-work and my platelets are already low. (With Gavin, they were fine at my 8 week appt and 28 week appt. They were very low the day I gave birth. Which is why I wasn't allowed to have an epidural. To have an epidural, the platelets must be over 100 - mine were 68!) So he said we would keep an eye on them and if they are still low at 28 weeks, he might start me on some meds to raise them. As of right now, I'm not worried at all. ~ I guess unless I cut my finger off or something... I don't have enough platelets to clot!!!

Anyway, my next appt is Friday, Nov 13 (16 weeks). We will do more bloodwork to test for Down's Syndrome, Trisomy 19 and a few other chromosomal abnormalities. I will keep yall posted :)

Our friends, John and Christy Christian are also expecting a baby! They have Cameron (age 9) and Chloe (age 3). Christy is 2 months ahead of me - which means she just had her big 20 week sonogram. They found out they are having a BOY :) YAY!!! Congratulations!!!!

~ Just FYI ~ Gavin is 2 months older than Chloe. The new Christian baby will be 2 months older than the new Burchett baby. How cool is that?!?!?
(The first time around was kinda planned.... this one was NOT at all :)

Awesome Weekend!!

This weekend we had tickets for the Rangers Game Saturday night. So we got up Saturday morning, dropped off Gavin with Carrie and headed to Arlington. We met John and Christy at the hotel, checked in and headed out for our day of fun! First stop was Humperdinks Sports Bar & Grill. We all split a HUGE plate of fried cheese, loaded nachos, torpedos (stuffed fried jalapenos), tater skins and chips n queso.
After much munching, we headed down to the brand new Dallas Cowboys Stadium. OMG that thing is awesome!!! We stood in line for about an hour for tour tickets, then had to wait an hour and a half in line for our tour. They finally took us in and sat us in the stands until our time. 45 minutes later, our 2 tour guides showed up to get us. The whole tour lasted about an hour and a half! We got to see the ground crew lay some of the turf... including the 50 yard line and the star!!! We saw the press room, a private suite, the Cotton Bowl room, where the Cowboys walk out to the field, the private club that the player's family and friends hang out during the game, and the best part - the Cowboys Locker Room!!! Of course, Danny and John's highlight was the Stephen McGee locker (he was the Aggie quarterback last year). We had a blast! LOTS of walking but we had sooooooooo much fun! That was worth the whole trip right there :)
BUT there was more....
After the Cowboys tour, we went back to the hotel to change clothes and freshen up. About 30 minutes later, we were in our seats behind Home Plate watching the Rangers game. And what an awesome game it was!!! We saw a couple home runs but the 5th inning was worth the whole game. 3 home runs and a GRAND SLAM!!! That was awesome!!!
After the game, we went back over to Humperdinks for some dinner. Then back to the hotel for some zzzzzzzzzzzzzz's.
We had an amazing weekend! We are so glad that John and Christy joined us :)

We had our first doctor appointment on Friday Sept 11. We talked to the doctor and he did the first sonogram. He determined that I am 7.5 weeks (about a week less than he thought I would be) and I am officially due April 26, 2010. He said that we would schedule the c-section for about a week before the due date. I will have an appointment every month with our next big appointment being at the 5 month mark. We will do the sonogram and try to figure out if its a boy or girl :)

We got to see and listen to the heartbeat.

7 weeks

We have made it to the 7 week mark. For some odd reason, this is my safety net. Maybe because I didn't find out I was pregnant with Gavin until the 7th week, maybe because 7 is a universal lucky number, maybe.... really I have no clue! But we've made it. And I am super excited! Mainly, because Friday marks 8 weeks and we have our first doctor appt and sonogram scheduled. I can't wait to see that little blueberry sized baby image on the screen - then it will be all so much more REAL to me. Also, will confirm what I am hoping is only ONE baby in there.... (some of the girls at work are convinced I am having twins... my boss, neighbor Keith, and Danny's uncle Jack for some reason think I am having triplets!!!)
As for how everyone is doing:
* Gavin is still super excited! He keeps telling everyone that he is going to be a Big Brother. He says he wants a little sister one day, a little brother the next day, and then some days he wants one of each (2 of them - he says!).
* Danny has finally convinced himself that we are not getting any younger and this is indeed the time to go ahead and have another baby! Good thing (since we were actually trying to get pregnant!!) But he's really excited.
* As for me, I'm sick. Sick. Sick. I have yet to actually throw-up but I am in a constant state of nausea. I wasn't like this with Gavin so this is very different for me. Hopefully it won't last much longer. I do not handle being sick well. AT. ALL.

While I was at work, Danny managed to shave my child's head. Yes, shaved his beautiful hair that I loved to run my fingers through. Now, he's bald. I almost cried.....
I am getting used to it, and starting to think it looks better. I know he's got to be a whole lot cooler. But oh how I miss his hair.

Danny has had trouble with his feet since we got together back in 19-ot-94. Well we finally took him to a pediatrist and here is what they came up with.... MAJOR bone spurs and bursitis. One on each foot! Only thing to do for them is surgery. That means he will have to be off his feet for 6 weeks... needlesstosay - he wont do it. I guess unless they just get to where he absolutely cant stand it anymore. But after looking at this... Owwwwwwiee!!!

In the middle of the summer, our air conditioner went out. Tough/Hot times. So while Danny and Ken were working on the a/c, me & Momma Bien were debating about putting Gav in the bathtub. We decided it was WAY too hot in the house, so Momma Bien just loaded up the plastic tub with water & bubbles and TAH-DAH... outside bath :) Gavin loved it!!!

Gavin is 3!!!! yay :) For his birthday we had a Spongebob theme.... complete with a big water slide, a small pool and LOTS to eat. Danny made hotdogs and crabby patties, we had goldfish crackers, Mr Crab Fruit Punch, Gary Grape kool-aid, and Patrick Star Pink Lemonade.

For the 4th ~ we went out to the lake with our friends John & Christy. We had Gavin and they had their 2 kiddos ~ Cameron & Chloe. Christy's aunt has a really nice place on the water with a zero-edge pool. So we swam and ate and swam and ate and finally watched the fireworks once it got dark. We had so much fun!!! Thanks Christian family for inviting us :)

I know I haven't updated the blog (or my facebook or myspace - for that matter) in several weeks now! But we don't have internet at home yet - its still at my father-in-law's - and I have been so super stupid crazy busy at work the last couple of weeks... its just CRAZY!!! We have taken over another company that does just as much new business as we do. So basically my work load literally doubled! I don't have time to check my emails, work on the blog, even go t-t most of the time. I have worked till 7:30 every night and even the last 2 Sundays just trying to get caught up! It's getting better and will hopefully level out soon. But keep checking back, I promise I will post again!!!

Saturday was Dan's birthday - the big 3-1 :) We had a very nice day and then cooked out on the grill for dinner. Because it was also Mother's Day weekend, we had several visitors - which made his birthday even more fun and special. My mom, my mimi, Ronnie, Richard and Darcy were all here this weekend! Plus Elizabeth came over to deliver some little giftys for him also! Edward cooked us a brisket (YUMMY!!) and Dan & Darcy cooked White wings out on the grill. Apparently I did not take pictures of Gavin's room "before". But basically it had the bed and a bunch of stuff just piled everywhere. No shelving - no organization - nothing! But here is the finished product. Only thing I have left to do is paint the lower half of the wall with all the Disney pictures on it and put up a chair rail. I will post those pictures when I'm done!

A couple of weekends ago was the 2nd annual Woofstock celebration at our little park here in town. My new neighbor (and Gavin's 2nd mommy - she says) Elizabeth took Gavin and her son Caden. I had two cases of head trauma this weekend... minor... but DANGIT they still hurt like crazy!! The first one occurred Friday afternoon. Danny & I went to pick up Gavin and then stopped by his work on the way home. Well they had the door propped open since it was nice outside. So, me being a little .... odd... decided to squeeze THROUGH the door instead of open it. Gavin did it so I just assumed I could too!!! BIG mistake. There is a dead bolt lock with a key inside it sticking out of the door right about my eyebrow level. My head found it :( I now have a small gash on my forehead right above my eyebrow! Freakin' hurt like crazy!!!!
Then Sunday was the second and worse one. We were putting in our new mailbox (its gorgeous by-the-way... stay tuned for pictures!!) and I was planting the flowers around it. After I was done, I just stood right up. Right into the mailbox. O.M.G.!!!! It almost knocked me to my knees and my eyeballs were FULL of tears!! Oh it hurt soooo bad. In fact, I am just now recovering from all my headaches resulting from these stinking traumas! Geesh!!!

I load applications at a Life Insurance Company. Thats my job. So when the application comes in, I get to see it firsthand and go over it and load it into the computer. Most of our clients are lower (lower) to mid-class. Every now and then we get some rather.... ummm... unique names. Here are some that I have found. Sunday night I put Gavin in the bathtub and I was folding laundry in the bedroom. He yelled and told me he was cold so I shut the door. Well he got pretty quiet a few minutes later so I went in to check on him. He was laying perpendicular in the tub driving a car around on his belly. So I went back to folding clothes. A few moments later I noticed he was quiet again so I went in again to check on him. HE WAS ASLEEP!!! Laying in the bathtub, arms to the side, legs all sprawled out, asleep!!! The water was up around his ears so after I hollered at Danny to come look at him, I washed his hair and his body while he slept. Apparently I was bothering him because he tried to roll over but of course couldn't find a spot that the water wasn't on his face. So he kept moving further up the bathtub. Finally his nose went under and he woke up and started crying. So we got him out of the tub, dried him off and clothed him. He kept saying "I wanna hold you" so I carried him in the living room and laid him on me while I read a book. About 5 seconds later... he was WIDE AWAKE!!!! Did NOT want to go to sleep after that! Anyway... after still freaking out yesterday about him falling asleep in the tub - I will NOT close the door anymore and I'm so glad I kept checking on him when I did. What a nut!!!!!
